San José Youth Ballet is a non-profit organization, founded in April 2003, whose mission is to bring high caliber classical ballet to young aspiring dancers in Silicon Valley.  SJYB provides a training ground for dancers who wish to pursue a career or excel in dance.  SJYB gives our young artists the opportunity to perform along side top professionals in the field of dance and participate in auditions, rehearsals, and theatrical performances.  SJYB enriches the community through its presentation of the finest in classical and contemporary ballet (Resource:  San Jose Youth Ballet website- http://www.sjyb.org).

On October 14, 2009, Corps d’Art will combine the excitement of seeing art created live with the beauty of live performances by members of the San Jose Youth Ballet.  A variety of local artists will be participating in this event.  The artists will create unique artworks throughout the event and will be available to interact with the community to answer questions and highlight their work. 

Art created at the event – along with additional prizes – will be “auctioned” off through a silent auction, with proceeds helping to raise funds for the San Jose Youth Ballet as well.  Winners will take home their new treasures that very night!

In addition, there will be live music throughout, and several special performances by the dances from San Jose Youth Ballet.  Additional art from the artists will also be available for purchase, with a percentage of these proceeds being donated to the Youth Ballet as well.

Good news for parents!   

The SCVCC Kids Club staff will be on-hand to provide child care on the evening of Corps d’Art.  Take your kids to the Family & Youth session from 4:00 – 5:30 then treat yourself to beverages and free hors d’oeuvres.  Watch the artists and additional performances from members of the San Jose Youth Ballet.  Kids will enjoy pizza, crafts and a movie.  Space is limited -- to reserve your spot, please call Shamci Nosrati at (408) 239-5765.
